5 Days Tsavo West and Tsavo East Safari Itinerary

  • Day 1: Nairobi to Tsavo West National Park

Your journey begins with a 7:00 AM pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or airport, followed by a scenic drive along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway toward Tsavo West National Park. On arrival, you will check in at your lodge or camp and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, head out for a game drive where you may encounter elephants, giraffes, lions, buffaloes, and other fascinating wildlife species. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge. Meals include lunch and dinner, with accommodation at Ngulia Safari Lodge or similar.

 

  • Day 2: Full Day in Tsavo West – Mzima Springs and Shetani Lava Flow

After an early breakfast, set off on a morning game drive before visiting Mzima Springs, a beautiful series of natural pools where hippos and crocodiles can be observed through an underwater viewing chamber. Continue to the Shetani Lava Flows, a vast volcanic field that highlights the park’s dramatic geological history. Throughout the day, you will also have the chance to spot wildlife such as hyenas, leopards, zebras, kudu, and other species. In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with accommodation at Ngulia Safari Lodge or similar.

  • Day 3: Tsavo West to Tsavo East National Park

After breakfast, depart Tsavo West and travel to Tsavo East National Park, entering through the Manyani or Voi Gate. You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and check-in before heading out on an afternoon game drive. Tsavo East is famous for its red elephants, vast open landscapes, and a high chance of spotting lions and even leopards. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with accommodation at Voi Safari Lodge or similar.

  • Day 4: Full Day Safari in Tsavo East

 After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in Tsavo East, one of the largest and oldest parks in Kenya. You will explore key attractions such as Aruba Dam, Mudanda Rock, and the Galana River, which is home to hippos and crocodiles. Wildlife sightings may include herds of elephants, antelopes, lions, and an impressive array of birdlife such as hornbills and kingfishers.   • Day 5: Tsavo East to Nairobi or Mombasa
