Black Rhinos, Chimpanzees & Big Five in Kenya’s Premier Private Conservancy

 Tour Overview

Discover the beauty and conservation success of Ol Pejeta Conservancy on this unforgettable 3-day safari from Nairobi. Located on the Laikipia plains near Mount Kenya, Ol Pejeta is renowned for having the highest number of black rhinos in East Africa, as well as the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya.

This private wildlife conservancy offers an exclusive safari experience with opportunities to spot the Big Five, visit endangered species enclosures, and learn about impactful conservation work. Ideal for wildlife lovers, photographers, and families, this tour provides close-up encounters in a less crowded, more intimate setting than the national parks.

  • Day 1: Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy (Sweetwaters)

Your journey begins with a 7:00 AM pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport, followed by a scenic drive north through central Kenya’s highlands, passing lush tea and coffee plantations on the way to Nanyuki. You will arrive at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in time for lunch and check in at your lodge. After a short rest, head out on an afternoon game drive across this rich wildlife haven, where elephants, lions, rhinos, buffalos, giraffes, and antelopes roam freely. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge or luxury tented camp. Meals include lunch and dinner, with accommodation at Sweetwaters Serena Camp or an equivalent lodge.

  • Day 2: Full Day in Ol Pejeta and Chimpanzee Sanctuary Visit

After breakfast, set off for a full-day exploration of Ol Pejeta Conservancy. You will visit the renowned Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only one of its kind in Kenya, managed in partnership with the Jane Goodall Institute. Another highlight of the day is the Endangered Species Enclosure, home to the last two surviving northern white rhinos in the world. Lunch may be enjoyed as a picnic in the wild or back at the lodge as a hot meal. In the afternoon, continue your game drives through the conservancy’s varied habitats, from riverine forests to open savannahs, before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with accommodation at Sweetwaters Serena Camp or an equivalent lodge.

  •  Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Return to Nairobi

Begin the day with an early morning game drive, the best time to catch predators in action and enjoy the magical sunrise over the plains. Return to the lodge for breakfast, then check out and begin your journey back to Nairobi. You will arrive in the early afternoon, with drop-off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your safari. Meals include breakfast.
